Our ServicesWe offer full-time training on a month-to-month basis for horses that need concentrated work of some type. This may be a baby that needs handling and ground manners, starting a young horse,
In addition to full-time training, we give individual lessons, mini-clinics (one day or a weekend), and five-day clinics. We regularly travel to south Georgia, north Florida, and Tampa, and periodically schedule clinics farther away. For clinics that take place on the farm, we offer accommodations for you and your horse. Many people also choose to take a “training vacation,” and stay in our bunkhouse and enjoy lessons and trial rides. The Certification Program is an eight-week intensive training course broken up into two four-week sessions with a five-week break in between. The program is designed to enable students to work with broke, unbroke, and “problem” horses safely and effectively on the ground and under saddle. Our hope is that the program will instill its graduates with the ability to work confidently and creatively with all types of horses and people, whether they wish to do so in a professional capacity or simply for their own benefit. Each student brings one unbroke horse and one broke horse to Lynn'D Farms in Ocala, FL. The program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 5:00 with an hour lunch break. We cover round pen information such as inside turns, outside turns, turn and face, and come to me. Further work includes advanced leading, spook in place, sacking out the unbroke horse, as well as problem solving for issues like head-shyness, standing tied, etc. We also cover the ground control information such as WESN lesson, give to the bit, college level leading, yield to pressure, trailer loading and how to disengage the hindquarters. We will then show how the groundwork transfers to work under saddle, and students will teach their unbroke horse to calmly walk, trot and canter, pick up the correct leads, lateral flexion, lateral movements, right and left turns, collected stops, backing-up and a host of other exercises that will enhance performance. By the end of the course, every student should have the tools to take and unbroke horse and make it into a safe and willing riding partner, as well as being able to address many common problems such as trailer loading, clipping, standing for the farrier, bolting, spooking, bucking and rearing, etc. We also will discuss what it takes to be a professional trainer and how to get started in business. If time permits, we will trail ride, go camping, and swim the horses! This course is much more than just learning to train horses. It is an intense and demanding experience both emotionally and physically, and it has the potential to inspire its participants and significantly influence the direction of their lives. It requires a great deal of dedication from you, the student, as well as from us at Lynn’D Farms. We take the organization and teaching of the program very seriously and expect that you will too. This is one instance where you will truly get out of it what you put in! If you are willing to learn something, we are more than happy to teach you. The cost of the 8 week certification course is $9,800 (does not include stall or paddock costs). There are electrical hookups for campers and trailers, and a bunkhouse available for rent on the property. |
reschooling an older one, conditioning and preparation for a show, or working on a particularly serious issue. Some of the problems we deal with most often are rearing, bucking, and bolting, trailer loading, spookiness, and show horses that are either ring sour or nervous outside of an arena. During whatever time we spend on a horse, we are always striving to make it more “rideable” – light in the hand, light off the leg, happy to go forward, and easy to stop.
